Introduction to Computer Technology

&

Microcomputer  Hardware

                                                Asst. Professor: Norm Turgeon

The ultimate goal of these courses is to enable the student to be able to go into any computer parts and supply dealer and buy everything needed to build an X86 based microcomputer system unit, bring it all home, assemble and configure it properly with an operating system of choice and have all peripherals function properly, even if he or she has had little or no prior computer experience, a skill highly coveted by many employers.

We start with Introduction to Computer Technology which  emphasizes the configuration of the system after the assembly has been completed. Microcomputer Hardware concentrates on the actual assembly and disassembly of the system unit and applies what was learned in Introduction to Computer Technology to create the fully functional microcomputer system.
